8 Ways To Make Money In New World

We suppose it is no surprise that an MMORPG developed by a multinational e-commerce giant has such a strong capitalist backbone. With no NPC merchants to be found, the inhabitants of New World are forced to “play the stonks”, auctioning their goods at Trading Posts throughout Aeternum in hopes of making a quick buck.

Naturally, everyone wants to be the next Jeff Bezos, and so there are a lot of “best” or “easy” money-making schemes floating around the New World community. Here we have some of the best ways to make money in New World.

Updated January 1, 2022: Getting rich in New World is a feat easier said than done. So if you want to know how to fill your pockets while playing, here are some of the best methods to do so.

8 Complete Quests, Side Quests, And Town Projects

Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best solution. Following along with New World’s story and completing all of its main and side quests is an easy way to make gold. If not one of the more painstaking methods. Completing Town Projects and Faction missions are an even better option, as these quests have the potential to renew.

Town Projects have the added bonus of upgrading the Settlement you call home base. For example, your quest for gold could also end up improving the Settlement’s forge, allowing you and other players to craft higher-quality products. It’s surely a win-win.

7 Farm Mobs And Monsters

Unlike other MMORPGs, farming mobs for gold and goodies is not a reliable source of income in New World. “Looting” in the way you might understand for other games, is a rare occurrence. Mobs scarcely drop gold or other items, and what they do drop is entirely up to RNG.

At higher levels, it becomes easier to find more reliable loot from “elite chests” in certain areas. If you are just starting out, don’t count on farming to get your bag. If you take the Quests and Sidequests money-making route, farm as many mobs as you can along the way, and pray to the RNG gods.

6 Embark On Expeditions

Once you have reached level 25 and above, the world of Expeditions opens up to you. These are dungeons that can be unlocked by progressing through the main story’s questline. Each Expedition offers high-tier weapons and trinkets that you can choose to keep for yourself or sell at your chosen Trading Post.

Besides this, the monsters in Expedition areas have a higher chance of dropping rare crafting materials and gold. You can use these high-quality crafting materials to boost your crafting experience, which in turn will progress you towards crafting recipes that do well on the market.

5 Sell Mining Materials

A lot of capitalism is based on one simple principle. People are lazy. If you can adhere to this rather pessimistic ideology in New World, you can turn a bit of gold around. We might love playing MMORPGs, we might say we enjoy the grind. But at the end of the day, no one likes walking circles around the same maps to farm iron veins just to level up their crafting skills.

If you are willing to put in the effort and literal legwork, you can make a fair amount of money selling mining materials like iron ore, silver ores, or even steel ingots. Farming oil from Seeping Stones might also be a good item to sell as well, depending on your server’s market.

4 Sell Crafting Materials

Everyone wants to level up the crafting skills quickly, and no one wants to actually waste all that time gathering raw materials. Selling simple resources and raw materials at the Trading Post is a good way to make money off of beginner players impatient to progress.

Materials like Fiber (harvested from Hemp), Stone, and Wood are easy enough to farm in any area if a bit of a timesuck to gather in large quantities. Fishing is not a bad way to make money either, as salvaged materials from fish such as Fish Oil are in demand from players interested in increasing their Cooking experience.

3 Become A Herbalist

There is an especially unique market to corner when it comes to Herbs in New World. You might be thinking, “why? I’ve seen herbs all over Aeternum”. While all herbs look the same wherever you go, certain herbs will only drop in specific areas of Aeternum.

Paprika can only be dropped in Monarch’s Bluff and Brightwood. You can only gather Cinnamon in Cutlass Keys, Edengrove, and First Light. These ingredients are essential to certain Cooking recipes players might need for specific buffs and other benefits. They would gladly just walk over to the Trading Post to buy some for a slightly increased mark up then spend Azoth to Fast Travel or worse… walk all the way across the map just for some Garlic.

Plus, all herbs drop Hyssop, which is an essential component in crafting Incense and Alkahest, which is used in many potions. While you are out and about, you can also farm Bulrush Cobs and Briar Buds to sell to crafters making Infused Health and Mana Potions.

2 Craft Bags For New Players

Ah yes, an MMORPG staple. The bag trade. Inventory space is always in high demand at the start of an MMORPG, but New World has an especially dire need for bags early on. Much like in Souls games, each item in your inventory has its own weight. It’s easy to become over-encumbered while out gathering or even questing in New World. Bags and satchels increase your “encumbrance” amount, improving the number of items you can carry while out and about. Leveling up your armoring skill and hoarding resources like leather, linen, and iron is excellent to make some gold off of newbs in late-game New World.

Or, rather than expending all those resources to make bags yourself, farm for the “Runes of Holding” needed to make the bags by completing Faction Missions. You can sell “Runes of Holding” to players looking to make their own bags but too impatient to grind through Faction Missions.

1 Collect Motes For Tuning Orbs

To make Expeditions easier to access, in Into The Void Update 1.1 Amazon Games made Tuning Orbs a little less painstaking to craft by decreasing the amount of Corrupted Lodestones needed. This means more players will likely be crafting Tuning Orbs, making the demand for Energy Cores and Hearts even greater, plus the Motes needed to make them. Just one Eternal Heart requires 50 Death Motes, 50 Life Motes, and 50 Soul Motes to craft.

You can gather Fire Motes from Dragonglory or Scorchstone, Air Motes from Shockbulbs or Shockspire, Earth Motes from Earthspine or Earthcrag, Water Motes from Rivercress or Springstone, Life Motes from Lifebloom or Lifejewel, Soul Motes from Soulsprout or Soulspire, and Death Motes from Blightroot or Blightcrag. For this reason, leveling up your Mining and Gathering skills is a good money-making strategy even for early-game at this time. If you level up your Arcana, you can farm Motes to craft Quintessences to sell at an even higher price.
